Architects Insurance

Our brokers have been protecting architects' professional liabilities with a programme of insurance that includes a tailored Professional Indemnity Insurance for architects, for practices of any size in the complex world of architectural design and construction.

Why architects choose Jensten for their Architects Insurance

In the planning, design and management of a construction project, architects are exposed to several financial risks, even though your architectural firm will invariably do its best to carry out work error-free, mistakes will unfortunately occur, and frivolous allegations can be made.

Architects’ professional indemnity insurance is a liability policy that protects the business against claims arising for damages, by providing a legal defence and covers the cost of damages awarded by a court or settled by the insurer.

Our Financial Professions team have knowledge built up over several years of the different architectural projects our clients get involved with and consistently advise, highlight issues and create and arrange solutions for high-risk projects such as swimming pools, basement work, as well as jurisdictional and regulatory issues, product and design specifications and collateral warranties.

We can also provide appointment and contract vetting services, to ensure your appointments and the terms you are signing up to are not contradictory to your insurance or UK contract law.

Architects Insurance

This is one of the more complex areas of cover, so to help you get the protection you need, here are our architects insurance frequently asked questions. We hope they will help, but if you’d like some independent advice, please call us on 0190 344 4951 and we’ll be only too happy to help.

Professional Indemnity Insurance is the foundation for most architects’ insurance. While you do all you can to prevent mistakes in your work, this isn’t always possible. Sometimes something as small as an incorrect measurement or a piece of bad advice can cause your clients to suffer financial loss.

With professional indemnity insurance included in your insurance programme you and your business will have protection from the costs of compensating a client if you make a mistake in a piece of work for a client that causes them financial or reputational loss.

When you’re looking for professional indemnity insurance, it’s not always easy to get the guidance you need to find a policy that’s right for you. Thats because it isn’t like a general commercial insurance policy; and therefore, not all ‘general’ insurance brokers have the expertise to advise you correctly.

Even if you’ve done nothing wrong, the cost of defending yourself against claims for negligence or mistakes that leave your client out of pocket can be very high.

  • Negligence – if you provide incorrect advice or make a mistake.
  • Breach of confidence – sharing (commercially) sensitive information without permission
  • Lost or damaged documents, money or goods – if you lose money, or lose/damage documents or goods whilst in your care.
  • Defamation – If you produce or support libellous comments.
  • Breach of copyright – Limited cover is available if you infringe copyright, trademarks or intellectual property (see intellectual property insurance for our full cover option)
  • Employees – If your employee causes a loss for a client.

Yes.

Professional Indemnity Insurance works differently from general commercial insurance policies. It provides cover for your past works, as it is on a claims-made basis. But it is essential that you keep a suitable level of coverage either based on your past projects/clients or based on your contractual commitments.

Getting a quote is easy.  Simply call our friendly team of specialists on 0190 344 4951 and they’ll be happy to help.
