Who is the scheme designed for?
The scheme has cover that has been specifically endorsed to provide protection and arbitration cover for members of IMPRESS. The cover can be further tailored to meet each member company’s individual needs with the flexibility to include or exclude additional coverage options as required.
What Types of Work Does the scheme cover?
Cover applies in whatever medium your material is published or broadcast including books, local and national newspapers, magazines, specialist journals, private publications, websites, TV, radio, video and film. Subject to EU Law, you are insured wherever in the world your work is published or distributed. Cover can be extended to include claims brought outside the EU, including USA/Canada, where you actively undertake or target work in those countries.
The policy offers a wide range of covers including, as standard, protection for libel and slander, infringement of copyright, breach of confidentiality, negligence, breach of privacy, and liability to the public, as well as network security issues and transmission virus and cover for documents which are accidentally lost or damaged. Cover can be extended to include business equipment, management liability, business interruption losses, your liability to employees and the public and notification costs following a data breach or cyber-attack.
Cover Can Include
Professional Indemnity insurance covers you for legal costs incurred if your business is found to have provided a service that causes a client to lose money. This is mandatory on all policies.
Professional Indemnity insurance will look to cover you if you are alleged to have committed defamation, infringement of copyright, or breach of confidentiality or data privacy that causes a person or company to claim that you have caused them to lose money. The policy will provide cover for your legal costs and expenses when defending the claim, as well as any costs or damages that may be awarded (dependant on the claim being accepted).
You have the option to insure your liability to members of the public in the event your negligence causes them personal injury or damage to their property. Combined with this, Products Liability insurance covers costs you incur in compensating anyone who is injured by a faulty product your company designs or supplies, excluding product recall.
Public Liability insurance provides cover for claims arising from 3rd parties for bodily injury or property damage caused in the course of carrying out professional services. For example, if you attend a meeting and drop your laptop on a glass table and it smashes, or if someone trips over the laptop charger cable and injures themselves and look to make a claim against you for this damage or injury then this could trigger the policy. Please note, it does have to be in the course of your professional services
Products Liability insurance provides cover for claims arising from 3rd parties for bodily injury or property damage caused by an item you have supplied that is covered under the following definitions, printed matter, information technology software, hardware, discs or peripheral equipment for use by or with computers and telecommunications and your promotional products
We can arrange cover for your legal liability to your employees, including self-employed freelancers.
Employers’ Liability is a mandatory cover for all businesses that employ staff or have freelance employees or volunteers under their supervision and direct control. It provides cover for your legal liability to pay damages, legal costs and expenses to these individuals for death, injury or disease arising out of your alleged negligence in the course their employment or tenure with your business.
Directors and officers liability cover is designed to protect the personal assets of a company’s managers and provides cover should they be sued for alleged wrongful actions they have made when acting as a director or officer of the company.
Cyber insurance covers the loss, theft of or damage of your personal and private data and information from IT systems and networks. In addition to the cost incurred in dealing with such a breach a cyber policy can also provide invaluable support and crisis management to businesses to help mitigate reputational damage and any subsequent regulatory enforcement.
