Truck Insurance

Transportation plays a big part in the UK Economy with a high proportion of goods being delivered by road. At Jensten Insurance Brokers we are aware of the need to get the cover right at the best possible price.

What is Truck Insurance?

Truck Insurance, also known as HGV Insurance, a specialised form of insurance designed to protect businesses and individuals that operate trucks, lorries, and other commercial vehicles.

It allows you to cover your vehicle against accidental damage, fire, theft, and malicious damage, as well as covering third party liability to property or individuals in the event of a claim.

We understand the need for a detailed review to make sure the cover is tailor made to each client’s business needs, along with the additional policies required by various businesses to support their trade.

What our clients say...

How to save on Truck Insurance

At Jensten Insurance Brokers, we’re committed to finding our clients a great deal on quality cover.

When we say its all in the detail, it really is, a few additional questions and an expert ear can save you and your business from wasting hard earned cash.

Follow some of our tips below: –

  1. Get some independent advice – some policies will include add-ons you don’t need and removing them can help you save money.  It’s important to make sure you aren’t over or underinsured, though.  If you are underinsured, you may face a significant shortfall in the event of a claim, and if you’re overinsured, you may be paying more than you need to.  Either way, it pays to get some independent insurance advice.
  2. Consider your drivers – avoid insuring younger drivers and those with poor claims histories. Also, while any driver option is convenient, it could prove more expensive than a named driver policy. Or if you really need any driver, consider the savings on restricting the age, you will be surprised on the saving. Any driver aged 30 plus can be from Any driver 25 plus.
  3. Installing cameras and telematics in your vehicles – these tools help with driver management and can provide evidence in case of an accident, even if you are at fault, there is still a benefit to assist in quick claim management and mitigation of costs. (Call one of our team to cover in detail)
  4. Raise your excess – raising your excess – the amount you pay in the event of a claim can reduce your premiums.  If you have a good (low) claims history, this can be a great way of cutting the cost of your premiums.
  5. Search and compare – or better still, get an independent broker such as Jensten Insurance Brokers to do the comparison for you.  With our specialist knowledge and insurer contacts, we can help you get the right cover at the right price.

How much does Truck Insurance cost?

As we create your cover around you and your business, and given the different types of policies on offer, there’s no simple answer to that question.  What we can say is that your insurance quotation will be based on factors such as:

  • Make/Model of your Truck
  • The nature of your business, eg Haulage or Carriage of Own Goods
  • Your claims history.
  • The age of your drivers.
  • Whether you choose a named driver or any-driver policy.
  • If you carry Hazardous Goods or visit Hazardous locations
  • If you require European use.
  • The type of trailer you use can also impact on your premium.
